STI Wheels
STI Wheels are specially designed wheels engineering to maximize performance off road and in a rally race environment. You see them most commonly used on the Subaru WRX STI wheels, because the Subaru WRX is a very popular off road rally car. The reason the sti wheel provides such ideal enhancement to performance is because it is specially tuned and engineered to handle tighter turns at higher speeds without succumbing to the pressure a normal wheel would burst under. BBS is a company that manufactures after market wheels and rims, the STI BBS wheels are simply BBS wheels used for the STI. Enkei STI wheels have been made specially for the performance vehicle line of Subaru.
STI stands for SUBARU TECNICA INTERNATIONAL Inc. The acronym used to be STi, then it was changed to all caps, STI a few years ago. It is a subsidiary of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. It was created to overtake all sport car activities for Subaru. STI can deliver the extra value to enhance performance to a huge number of SUBARU motor sports fans. They manufacture every possible modification that can be made to a vehicle, brakes, suspensions, tuning parts, and more. In 1994 the first Subaru Legacy STI made an officail 10o,000km continuous running speed record that to this day remains unchallenged.
The STI line of Subaru also stands supreme at the rally car level. Subaru has an enhanced AWD system that takes full advantage of everything from the engine to the sti wheel. When the AWD system was introduced on the mid 90′s it won an impressive 8 victories in 14 rounds contested.
Subaru makes a performance line whose cars rival the best motor sports cars in the world. The Impreza WRX STI is one of these ridiculously well powered light machines. Along with a hatchback model the STI sedan has been created to be even more precise than its forefathers. The STI wheels have been improved, the brakes and rear stabilizing bars have increased spring rates and offer more firm rear sub frame brushings.
Returning for the model year the STI turbocharged SUBARU BOXER engine offers 305 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. The new engine is paired with a new 6 speed auto transmission and the famed Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. In short the new Subaru models are well prepared to make full use of the STI wheels that accompany them.
